astro-lab@home — Bringing Science to the Sofa

S. J. Spicker, A. Küpper & A. Bresges

About This Paper

When schools closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, the astro-lab.app project adapted its full experiment suite for home use — Most experiments need only household items and a smartphone; some (habitable zone, greenhouse effect) also need a TI SensorTag and a Bluetooth mouse. This open-access article in the Communicating Astronomy with the Public Journal documents the adaptation process, the resulting home experiment formats, and lessons learned about low-barrier science engagement.

The paper is freely available and addresses a general audience of science communicators and educators. It was published in CAPjournal, which is distributed globally to planetariums, science centres, and astronomy education organisations.
